Ca₃Cr₂(SiO₄)₃

This sample of uvarovite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Uvarovite is a silicate of chromium and calcium with the composition Ca₃Cr₂(SiO₄)₃. The sample at left is about 12x20 cm and is from Saranovskoe chromite deposit, Nizhniy Tagil, Urals, Russia.
