Family Easter Celebration at MFBC

April 19, 2025

This year our MFBC Family Easter Celebration for the Mableton Community was on the day before Easter. We had an enthusiastic group of workers and participants, reaching a total of 95 persons with children, parents and other family members. There was a variety of games, prizes, costumes, a friendly fellowship and a free pizza lunch.

As the early group of workers arrived just after 11am, we gathered in a circle for prayer.

The Fellowship Hall had been nicely decorated by Betsy and Keith Weaver and their kitchen team. All the tables were at least partially occupied during the celebration.

Becky Ridgway gives instructions to the group of our youth who would manage the abundant prize tables.

The Youth distributed prizes late in the event from the abundance of prizes on the three color-coded prize tables.

The flow of children and parents began at 11:30. Mary Brumbelow and Elaine Ridgway greet family members of Keith and Betsy Weaver (daughter and granddaughters).

Pastor Doug greets Betsy Weaver with her daughter and granddaughters. One of the great blessings of this event was the meeting and fellowship with family of our church members.

One side of the Fellowship Hall was lined with active games, which were a great part of the excitement of the event for children and families. Wanda Willey and granddaughter conducted the Bingo game. All the games had prizes, mostly candy treats.

The next game was a contest to find the fastest cup stacker. This was conducted by Tony Mode and Johnny Huffman, who are Awana leaders. One of the blessings of this event was fellowship with the parents of some of our Awana students.

The next game was the Eggshell Scramble for prizes and candy. It was led by Barbara Floyd and Donna Rosser with help from Youth members.

The next game was the Jellybean Scoop led by Ricky Ridgway and Billy Ridgway.

The last of this series of games was "Easter Egg Memory" led by Teresa Lamb and Laura Mode.

After the very active game time there was the call for the free pizza lunch. Serving were Jennifer Bentley, Barbara Floye, Betsy and Keith Weaver.

We appreciated the large and enthusiastic lunch group. It was a good time for family fellowship.

After lunch, everyone was looking forward to the Chalk Talk of the resurrection story by Elaie Ridgway

Elaine tells the story of the crucifixion and resurrection with twin views with the help of one of the mothers.

A large group of children and parents watched attentively as Elaine told the Easter story with chalk.

The last events of the celebration involve the young ones spinning the "Wheel of
EGG-celence" to get eggs to exchange for prizes at the three colored prize tables. Lee and Leigh Miller manage the process to provide plastic eggs from the basket to exchange for prizes.

The church youth provides the selected prizes from the tables of gifts.

A separate "Wheel of
EGG-celence" was provided for the younger children.

We praised the Lord for an active Family Easter Celebration for our community. It was a great time of fellowship with many families.
