Mark Works on the Set of the Planned "Challenger" Series

In early September, Mark goes to work in the metal shop for building parts of the set for the Challenger series. My understanding is that it will be a series of six films about the Challenger disaster of January 28, 1986. It happened off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida after a launch from the Kennedy Space Center.

The Challenger disaster happened while Jeff and Mark were still in high school and they both watched television coverage of it from our neighborhood since they were both home. It was a school holiday because a severe freeze had frozen the plumbing at Pebblebrook High School.

Another interesting detail is that one of the welders working with Mark on the set is from Florida and had actually watched the disaster take place.
